152. Chemo The Grocery Bill These Days

Don't you kind of hate it when you talk to an older person who constantly complains about the cost of living.  "Back in the day,  ... only cost 99 cents and look what it is costing now!  You need to take out a loan to be able to afford ...  these days."  The person has a valid point, but that was then, and this is now.  Life is all about change, right?  But what has happened to us lately?  Please, take a long hard look at your grocery bill.  Sitting down may be a good idea!  If the price of a certain item hasn't changed, the quantity may have been reduced.  So who is doing the complaining now? πŸ˜„

My husband and I are fortunate however: we are able to grow our own fruit and veggies.  I have planted a garden, not huge mind you, but, if all goes well, we will be able to enjoy the following: beets, carrots, swiss chard, parsnips, lettuce, tomatoes, potatoes, onions, leeks, cauliflower, broccoli and turnips.   Even a smidgen of that would be most welcome!  It always tastes so much better than store-bought!  And we can be assured that it is absolutely, positively 100% organic!  About the fruit: the previous owner had the generosity and foresight to plant rhubarb, crabapples and saskatoon berry bushes.  Lucky, lucky us!!

Asked from time to time if I have changed my diet since the cancer diagnosis, my answer is: yes I have!  We eat a lot more vegetables than we used to.  But you don't always know which ones are helping, do you?  So, as luck would have it, I happened to come across Dr. William Li, whose YouTube videos really helped put my mind at ease.  I strongly advise you to look him up also!

More about Dr. Li in my next post.  Back in a couple of days.  Got to get rid of some weeds first!  Yikes!  Nothing comes easy eh!   SanTeh! 😎

My garden this year

Welcome to my "Garden of Weeden" 2023!  In case you are wondering, the containers are "inherited😏" from a relative, discarded soft-drinks vending machines, gutted of course and with holes drilled through the bottom! πŸ˜…

And this is my garden after I fed it a lot of fertilizer!

This was last year's bounty!

No, I'm just kidding!  The second photo is from last year.  Oops! Couldn't help myself!  πŸ˜„  Happy Gardening if you do!!  And slap on the sunscreen please!
